Lemon Fizz

This is one of my absolute favorite colors, except for the fact it's a pain in the butt! This was 4 coats and it' s so thick and streaky. So I love this color, but it just looks so think.

Candy Shop

This is Claire's Candy Shop. I don't own any Deborah Lippmann polishes, but I have seen enough pictures of her Candy Shop to think that it's a pretty close dupe.

This is 4 coats, I probably could have stopped after 3 but I wanted MORE GLITTER.

I hated myself taking this off. Such a pain!

Unintentional Awesome

So this manicure started with the desire to use easy nail stickers for a weekend away with my boyfriend. I used Claire's Nail Flair Stickers. (The website doesn't show the design I use).

I used bare, clean nails and tried to apply the stickers carefully. They looked pretty cool, but I had some definite trouble filing down the tips. The back of the package said that a top coat would make it last longer, so I added a coat of SV. According to package, this is what they were supposed to look like:

I saw a crinkle on one of the nails and tried to smooth it out. Oops the sticker came off! But then I saw what was left behind, a clear background and the cheetah spots. It looked so cool! Right then I decided I was going to do it on all my nails. I simply added a coat of SV, waited about 20 seconds, and pushed it off with my thumb. That left this:

As you can see, the tips are rather messy. I think if I had known I was doing this from the beginning, I wouldn't have filed the stickers. I think that could have made it look neater. I decided to add some black tips. This was my first time doing french tips (can you believe that?) so they didn't look as neat as I would have liked them.

This was my completely accidental manicure... and I'm kinda in love with it!

Gorgeous

I bought this color because the girl I tutor for had earned a manicure (yay!) and requested teal. I realized I didn't own any teal and obviously that had to change! This is Sinful Colors Gorgeous. I don't usually like when polish companies name a color like this, but that's beside the point.

This color shifted beautifully depending on the light. Here is it in indirect sunlight (more green):

And in direct sunlight (more blue):

This is a very wild shade, but as long as you are game with that I think you'll like this.

For a design I took out my striping brush and dotting tools and did a very classic design. This reminded me of when I was a kid and I went to the nail salon with my Mom and they gave me little designs on my nails.

Zoya Jem

Here is Zoya Jem. I absolutely loved this in the bottle, on my nails, not so much. It's just a little more vampy than I love.

Bottle Shot, I love the pretty red and copper sparkles.

On my nails I didn't love it. It was just too vampy.

And in direct sunlight:

The sparkles don't really show up on the nail. I understand why some people would love this color, but it's just not really my style.

Footsteps

I'm trying to be better about a posting schedule. From now on you should expect a post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday... hopefully in the morning.

This manicure is an idea that's been bouncing around my head for a few weeks and I gotta say... it looked better in my imagination.

I started with 3 coats of Zoya Avery. My perfect nude shade (In my humble opinion). It goes on so smooth and beautiful and in some lights gives me definite mannequin nails.

I am so pale!!!

I then stamped OPI's Dancing in the Isles, CG Peachy Keen, Estee Lauder Satin Gold, CG White Out, and Kleancolor Cappuccino. I then added one coat of Finger Paints Twisted and CG Cowardly Lyin'. Then I used Cappuccino to stamp SH03 1-2 times on each nail.

This is pre clean-up because I slammed my right hand pretty good and wrecked 2 nails. I just took a couple of pics and took it off.

What do you think?

Loading...

Hola! This post was inspired by the loading screen on my laptop while I was installing updates.

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Spontaneous. Spontaneous is a dusty, blue purple. Not quite a lilac. It's one of my favorite colors so I'm sure you'll see it often! The sun on this day decided not to make an appearance, so my swatch doesn't do it justice!

I then used tape to gradually cover each finger with China Glaze CG in the City. This is from the Metro collection and many people don't seem impressed, but I love it. It's a black, silver, and another color, maybe purple or pink? Here it is in 2 coats over my thumb:

Here it is over Spontaneous. I think the pinkie is my favorite.

Luxe

I feel like a Greek Goddess! Orly Luxe is a beautiful and rich gold. It's basically liquid gold in a bottle and I love it. Though I originally bought it because it's supposedly amazing at stamping I wanted to swatch it first.

The first thing I have to say is that I love Orly's bottle. It's bigger than a standard bottle, which is nice, but what I love is the handle. It's so easy to open! I really wish all the companies follow this lead, there is nothing worse than ruining a new manicure slipping when opening the bottle.

Here is Luxe in two coats. First in direct and then indirect sunlight.

Since I can't leave well enough alone... here is SC Why Not? stamped on top of Luxe with SH24.

L-O-V-E

My first Valentine's Day manicure and I gotta say, it's one of my favorites!

I started with 3 coats of OPI's Dancing in the Isles. This polish was given to me by my boyfriend's mother. It's her favorite shade and it's been discontinued, so it really means a lot that she gave me one of her stored up bottles. This is a light and tropical peachy pink. It's definitely pink, but has a coral feel in some lights. After 3 coats there was still a bit of a nail line.

I then used the special Konad white polish to stamp a plaid design with Konad M60. I then used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Gun Metal, my absolute favorite gray, to free-hand l-o-v-e across my nails.

It reminds me of doodles on graph paper. It's almost perfect, I just wish the 'l' didn't look quite so much like an 'e.' Grrr!

This is not a flag

I feel like when I have warn you what it's not supposed to be, I didn't do a good job.

I started with 2 coats of Zoya Trixie. This si such a pretty color, but it definitely is not forgiving!

Here it is with and without flash:

This is such a pretty color, soooo shiny! But you really have to be careful with application, it shows every little ding.

Now, as you must know, the Super Bowl is tonight, and if you saw this post you know I'm a Pats fan. I had so many ideas for today's manicure, and I am kinda happy with how it came out. Patriots colors are  tough because they are red, blue, and silver. Any design I do ends up looking patriotic!

I did this abstract design using tape, a striping brush, and a dotting tool. I definitely like the way it looks, but it just doesn't really look like a football manicure!

GO PATS!

When a good manicure goes bad

Sorry about the layout, I'm not entirely sure what's up, I'll try and fix it later tonight.

This is Sinful Color's Why Not. This is a ceylon blue that really blue me away! Hahahaha... get it? I think to be a nail polish addict you have to truly appreciate puns.

The formula was very easy, it was a no problem 2-coater. Sinful Colors is so hit or miss, but this is definitely a winner. Here it is in full sunlight and in indirect light.

I just bought Essie Pure Pearlfection and needed to try it out. Here it is over Why Not?

This is where I should have stopped. But I didn't. This is my attempt at tulips:
