Go Pats!!

Tonight is the AFC Divisional Playoffs against the Broncos. I have lots of ideas for Patriots themed manicures, so here's hoping I'll get to pull them out 2 more times!


Here is my inspiration: 

I wanted to use the blue and silver from the uniform. I also decided to use the explosion manicure from the wonderful Nailslide. I wanted mine to be a little more jagged and rough. I thought about adding a red, but I decided I didn't want to risk messing it up! 


I started with 2 coats of the wonderful China Glaze First Mate. Excuse the pre-cleanup picture please. 

I then added the explosion in Zoya Trixie and the crackle in Sally Hansen Fractured Foil. I have to say that SH did not crackle as well as some of the other crackle polishes I've had. 

Here they are in direct sunlight. I just love First Mate! 

Beat the Broncos!!

Finger Paints Flakies

I got these with a Christmas gift card to Sally's and I am soooo happy with these! My Mom says its looks like marble. Hopefully I'll be doing her nails tonight with the flakies over white or pink.

I started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out. I've tried a couple of blacks and this is seriously amazing. It's like a silky patent leather. I did my nails at night though, so I didn't get any pictures of it by itself.

I was so excited to add Finger Paints Twisted on top! It was very difficult to get pictures to truly see at the colors in the flakes. They were green and blue and amber... so pretty! I took about a million pictures in natural and artificial and sunlight.

Zoya Neeka layering

One of my absolute favorite things to do is layer. Today I tried one of my new Zoya polishes, Neeka, which I got during one of their wonderful promotions. This has to be one of the most amazing, beautiful purples I have.

Here is the bottle, you can really see the glitter:

It's a beautiful dusty dark purple with tiny gold glitters. Here it is, 2 coats on most nails, 3 on a few that had some bald spots. One coat of the glorious SV over it.

I liked it so much I wanted to try layering it. I did one coat of Sinful Colors All About You (small gold glitter) and one coat of China Glaze Jetstream. Then I matted the whole thing with Essie Matte About You. 

Usually at this point I take it off or add a design... but I love it so much I just want to leave it!

Sometimes my nails hate me

Sometimes my nails do exactly what I want them to do, and then there are days like today.

Now, my boyfriend thinks my nail polish addiction is completely ridiculous. Sometimes I ask him what I should do and he always says that he doesn't care. Yesterday I asked and he actually answered: Pink! I rarely use pink, but for him I decided to make it happen.

I took out my Lancome Fuchsia (they aren't ones for fancy names) and did two coats with a SV topcoat. It's a beautiful deep, deep fuchsia. AND IT WON'T PHOTOGRAPH. So frustrating! I tried about a million times to get a good picture and this is the closest I could get:

I really like it on, but damnit if it doesn't photograph red. I then decided to try a BM tip stamp... of course that didn't turn out well either. 

Oh well... I try again tonight. I'm thinking yellow!!

The Milky Way

So was the galaxy named after the candy bar or was the candy bar named after the galaxy?

Anyway, this manicure took approximately a million years, but I love it!

I used this wonderful tutorial by Through the Wormhole and started with a Fresh Paints dark purple named Witchcraft with my favorite sheer CG's Jetstream over it. Then I sponged just about every color imaginable over it and added white, toothpick stars. A lot of people who do galaxy nails make a lot of nebula areas, I tried to keep mine slightly closer to the night sky.

Frankeny Goodness

I don't have a ton of money to keep my nail polish obsession alive. I went through the months of November and December not buying a single bottle (Can you imagine the horror?!).

In early december I absolutely needed a light blue/gray. I wanted a blue the color of the sky right before it snows. Because I was broke as a joke I decided to make it myself, and my first franken was born!

I started with a Pro 10 nail polish called Whisper, I've had it forever and never wore it. I then added a few different blues and purples and glitters and shimmers. I couldn't begin to tell you all the different  I love the slight iridescent purple glow:

My favorite design ever are polkadots. So I couldn't help myself:

My first tape mani

Right now I'm still using some older manicures to get this blog going.

This was my first attempt at a tape mani, something I both love and hate. I love the way they look but I mess them up so often!
